Dr. Laura has had a distinguished career, with noteworthy achievements such as: an ASCAP Adventurous programming award, a YMCA/YWCA Women of Achievement Award, International Musician of the Year, Cambridge (OH) Heritage Award for Leadership, and the William Rainey Harper award for Outstanding Scholarship from Muskingum College.
She has collaborated professionally with internationally acclaimed artists Angela Cheng, Benny Kim, Joaquin Achucarro, and many others. Ms. Schumann has also been Music Director for the ECODT Nutcracker Ballet, has guest conducted the Mansfield (OH) Symphony, Newark-Granville (OH) Symphony, Columbus (OH) Symphony and has worked with the Spokane and Bakersfield Symphonies.
Dr. Laura is also known for her orchestral arrangements and compositions, Schumann’s Shostakovich in Blue (2006) for strings is published by Alliance Publications, as will be an arrangement of Devil Went Down to Georgia for violin, vocal, and full orchestra.
Schumann received her DMA in orchestral conducting from Texas Tech University, her Master’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and her Bachelor of Music degree
from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She is also an honors graduate of The Recording Workshop, earning a certificate in sound and recording engineering.
She has performed as both soloist and chamber musician in the United States, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Canada, Hungary, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Ms. Schuman has performed in the prestigious Colorado Music Festival, as a soloist with the Winston-Salem and Jackson Symphonies and as a member of the Youth Artist String Quartet (CA) and the Wexford Piano Quartet (CO).
Schumann is noted for her unique and original family/children’s programs, incorporating differing musical styles, educational component, exciting visual and interactive concerts and an out-of-the-box contemporary yet sophisticated approach to programming and audience development.

She is a motivational speaker, horsewoman, motorcycle rider, student of karate, and musical abilities include singer/violin/ukulele/guitar. You will find her listed in Who’s Who of American Women and Who’s Who in the World.
