City Councilman and Director of Special Programs Zanesville City Schools

Steven is proud to be a lifetime resident of Zanesville. He attended Ohio University in Athens, as well as OUZ here at home, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration. Steven has been an educator for 23 years, the last 18 in Zanesville City Schools. His published works focus on issues of educational advocacy and have appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines. He serves as the Muskingum County Representative to the Ohio Association of Elementary School Principals (OAESA) and is very active in the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). In 2014 he secured a seat on Zanesville City Council as an At-Large Councilman with the promise of working toward lessening crime and violence. He enjoys theater as a hobby and has appeared in performances of “Noises Off!”, “Annie”, and “Oliver” with Zanesville Community Theater. He has been supporting The United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties in their fundraising campaigns for the past 2 years as an Educational Chair. He has a beautiful, talented 13 year old daughter Madeline who is Miss Muskingum Valley’s Outstanding Teen and competed in June for Miss Ohio’s Outstanding Teen. And, yes… Madeline IS on her way to being an Ohio University Bobcat.

Steven’s Dance Experience:
Some musical theater roles such as “Rooster” in Annie and “Mr. Bumble” in Oliver with ZCT. Several years [ago] of “owning” the dance floor at The Outback.

Fun Facts about Steve:
In 2012, Steven was a judge for the Miss Ohio Scholarship Program. In 2013, he served as judge for the Miss Illinois Scholarship Program. Both are Miss America pageants and raise much-needed funding for the valuable work of the Children’s Miracle Network. He and his daughter have a three-legged rescue-cat named Grayson from the Muskingum County Animal Shelter. Steven won the 1994 QVC 50/50 Tour search for a new program host with over 60,000 national votes. He loves to travel internationally with his mother and his daughter. The only food he doesn’t like is shrimp, and he often tries to eat it… but always with horrible results.
